Two New Class 68 Locomotives Working on Greater Anglia

Class 68 Trains

On Monday 11th July 2016, Abellio Greater Anglia began using two brand new Class 68 diesel locomotives, Class 68023 'Achilles' and Class 68016 'Fearless' for local train services.

The locomotives plus three Mk 2 coaches have been hired from Direct Rail Services until the 30th September 2016 when the hire period ends.

On the first day of operations, 68023 hauled the first train - the 06.52 Norwich to Great Yarmouth.

This temporary arrangement will possibly continue for several months until damaged DEMU Class 170 204 returns to service on Greater Anglia.
